Fall for a design icon! Architect, designer and artist, Italian Gio Ponti (1891-1979) played a fundamental role in the revival of post-war Italian design.
He is credited in particular with the symbol of modern Milan, the Pirelli skyscraper.
Mixing tradition and modernism, his creations illustrate the spirit of his time.
Gio Ponti embodies the transition of an era of upheaval that retains links to the past and experiments with new ideas in a forward-looking way.
Now reissued, his works remain timeless.
The F.A.33 mirror was originally created by Gio Ponti in 1933 for FontanaArte.
A year earlier, Ponti had partnered with Pietro Chiesa to take over the artistic direction of this company specialising in the artisanal production of exceptional glass objects: artistic stained-glass with limited series of unique items (objects, furniture, lamps).
Very elegant, this black brass mirror has a form of neoclassical inspiration modernised by clean lines.
